Introducing the Observation Deck

As promised, an observation deck has been built for all passers-by to safely watch from a distance as the two-year construction unfolds

Since groundbreaking a little over a month ago, everyone has been very eagerly waiting to see more work happen at the project site for the Immaculata. On July 13th the company hired for doing site work will mobilize their machinery, bring it all to the site, and work will begin. We are all understandably impatient to see excavators, graders, and dump trucks along with men in hard hats moving dirt on site.

While that will be a happy moment for all who have supported this project, it will also mean that the project site will be off-limits to all who are not trained to go near the construction. As promised, however, an observation deck has been built for all passers-by to safely watch from a distance as the two-year construction unfolds. The observation deck provides plenty of seats, even some in the shade, for any who wish to come and see what is happening on the project.

Families can take a nice walk along Second Street and sit for a while to watch history in the making as the Immaculata rises up yet again on our campus

The building of a church is not just a construction project; it is rather a work of God. Yes we will see men in hard hats using big equipment, but what is being built is a sign of eternity – God’s home. From the virgin earth of the project site on which nothing has ever been built, a house of sacrifice and worship will be produced and a dwelling place for almighty God, especially in the Blessed Sacrament, will rise up.

The observation deck is not just a place to watch with eager curiosity construction work but to contemplate what a church is, how God extends his reign through these beautiful structures, and how Our Lady will come to overlook and protect us all from its summit at the end of the project. I encourage you to stop by this deck frequently and not forget to say a little prayer for the continued success of the project.
