The Raising of Lazarus

A new statue is going to be placed in the roundabout of the Our Lady of Peace Cemetery

This scene presents Our Lord as He raises Lazarus from the dead. This episode from the life of Our Lord has been associated from the very earliest ages of Christianity with Christian burial and is still presented in Gospel of the Burial Mass.   Here, at the Immaculata, the bell which tolls as we process to Our Lady of Peace Cemetery was baptized “Lazarus” in honor of this ancient Christian tradition. This statue group, therefore, which will be before the eyes of those accompanying the mortal remains of their loved ones to their final resting place, will help nourish in them this Christian hope and draw their minds to that happy reunion promised to friends of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Design overseen by Br. Marcel
