• First-Class lace albs - 8 needed: cost - $6,700

  • Six of the eight albs have handmade lace; four with Battenberg lace and two with needlepoint lace. The other two albs are of very high quality and come from Germany and Italy. One has to see and examine exquisite masterpieces in order to understand not only the skill of the lady’s fingers that produced it but also to admire the well-trained will that carried the piece of art to completion despite the occasional tediousness that can come with it. Just to give us an idea how time-consuming it is, let us take one of our albs with the Battenberg lace. A piece of this size would take four to six months to finish with four or five ladies working on it at the same time every day.

• Plain albs - 10 needed: cost - $1,500

  • The albs used on a regular basis for standard feasts and ferias are simple yet still require yards of linen.

• Cinctures: cost - $300

  • The cinctures are also being hand-made by using a crochet technique. It is a very simple, easy, and repetitive process. To do an inch takes eight to ten minutes of crocheting to make a completed length of thirteen to fourteen feet long.

These items are being made by SSPX Sisters and ladies of the parish.
